-
- What's all this then?
-
- PowerSpaceTabsPlus (PSTP) is a simple program that removes "white space" from
- text files and replaces it with a tab. "White space" is defined by PSTP as two
- or more consecutive spaces. Why would you want to do this? There are several
- applications. If you have information stored in a text file separated by spaces,
- and you want to import it into a database, like FileMaker Pro, you can use
- PSTP to automatically set the tabs so you don't have to type the whole thing
- into the database.
-
-
- How does it work?
-
- It's quite simple really. Just drag the text file or files that you want tab'd
- onto the PSTP icon. After showing an about box, the program will prompt you for
- where to save each individual file. The file's original name will be offered as
- a default. You can drag as many files as you want onto the icon, but keep memory
- in mind. In general, PSTP should have about twice the amount of memory of the
- file you're dragging on it. The default of 1 meg should be enough for most uses.
-
-
- What's new in version 1.0.1?
-
- This version fixes a small bug that was present in version 1.0. The bug only
- shows up in files containing many spaces. If the user choses to save the tabulated
- file with the same name as the original, PSTP would keep part of the old file at
- the end. Version 1.0.1 fixes this bug. It is the only change.
-
-
- What's this about using PSTP as a FirstClass BBS utility?
-
- PSTP was originally written to help out Graham Fennie, the admin of the FirstClass
- BBS "Tyrell, Inc." (716-248-9744). FC allows the sysop to save the information
- about who has uploaded files to the board into a text file. However, because of
- the format of the file, it can not be imported directly into FileMaker Pro.
- Importing the file would allow the sysop to keep accurate records of how much
- each user has uploaded, posted, etc. For more information on how to use PSTP with
- FirstClass, look at the "FC README" file in the "FirstClass tool" folder.
-
-
- Can I give this to other people?
-
- Sure! PowerSpaceTabsPlus can be distributed free of charge on public bulletin
- boards, FTP sites, and CD-ROMS as long as all the documentation and the
- complete package it kept intact. If you're going to put PSTP on a CD-ROM, I
- request that you first notify me so that I can brag about it. Users are free
- to use PowerSpaceTabsPlus for no charge. However, if you find this program
- useful, or if you run a commercial service that uses PSTP to keep records,
- I request that you send a $5 check to:
-
- Scott J. Kleper
- 134 Caversham Woods
- Pittsford, NY 14534
-
- I don't think this is very much to ask. PSTP is a simple program, but it can
- be very useful. It can save hours of time if you normally maintain a database
- by typing things in manually. When you register PSTP, you will receive future
- updates at no charge, a personalized copy of the current version, and the
- personal satisfaction of registering shareware.
